Sax Macy Fromm Foundation Presents $62,000 Donation to St. Joseph's Children's Hospital
The Sax Macy Fromm (SMF) Foundation recently donated $62,000 from its Second Annual 4 Miler at Garret Mountain to St. Joseph's Children's Hospital. The SMF Foundation absorbed all expenses associated with the second annual event to donate 100 percent of the proceeds raised through sponsorship directly to the Child Life Department at the Paterson, N.J.-based medical center.
"Thanks to the support of more than 400 participants and the generosity of 40 business and individual sponsors, the Second Annual 4 Miler at Garret Mountain exceeded our expectations," said Robert Paz, SMF managing director. "We are thrilled with how the community rallied behind this event and St. Joseph's Children's Hospital. We feel fortunate to do business in an area where giving back is such a high priority."
The 4 Miler's lead sponsor, at the Titanium Level, was Valley National Bank, based in Wayne, N.J. The regional banking institution serves 16 counties in New Jersey, New York City and Long Island and is committed to supporting the local communities in which its branches are located.
"The 4 Miler at Garret Mountain is an example of how coming together for a common cause to run, walk and enjoy a morning at one of the area's most beautiful landmarks can make a difference in the life of a child," said Stuart Berger, a principal in SMF's Real Estate Industry Service Group. "This enthusiasm, compassion and commitment make the 4 Miler one of the area's most popular philanthropic athletic events in the region."
Established in 2006, the SMF Foundation provides funding to non-profit organizations that provide a measure of impact throughout Northern New Jersey. Based in Clifton, N.J., SMF is a best-in-class accounting, auditing and tax services firm. Recently named among the nation's Top 200 Accounting Firms and Top 200 Fastest Growing Firms, SMF will be merging with Albany, N.Y.-based Bollam, Sheedy, Torani, & Co. LLP (BST), effective January 1, 2014. The new company, to be named SaxBST, will rank among the "Top 100" firms nationally, with more than $45 million in combined annual billings.
