A Modern Sculpture in a Jungle - Pinecrest, FL
This unique residence was constructed in 1983 by a young family with a vision - a custom-built contemporary residence when none existed in the area, set amidst an old pine forest on a high ridge. Consisting of three separate lots, the seller meticulously combined all three lots into one parcel, yet the flexibility exists to separate the lots once again. A dramatic front door, which is really just a section of a wall on a pivot, creates an entryway open to 20' floor-to-ceiling windows, which span the entire rear of the house and both overlook and open up to the pool, patio, and garden. The house is remarkably balanced. On the main level, loft like spaces expose the living room, dining room and family room for public use and entertaining while single-story ceilings pervade rooms (kitchen, breakfast area, den, and bedroom) to create comfort and intimacy. Elegant, lacy steel spiral staircases that resemble a sculptures were, built on-site, and can be found inside and outside of the house. Upstairs bedrooms are divided into- a master-bedroom suite with sitting area that opens onto a large private deck plus the guest/children's bedrooms that share a common den, perfect for homework , playing indoors or as an additional bedroom.
