Kansas City-based Spin Pizza is rolling out a new Kansas location. Spin, which recently dropped
News 2 weeks ago
Kansas City-based Spin Pizza is rolling out a new Kansas location. Spin, which recently dropped "Neopolitan" from its name, is opening a restaurant Friday at Topeka's Wheatfield Village, a $100-million mixed-use development by Overland Park-based EPC Real Estate Group. Spin is just the second business to open inside the development; the first was Johnny's Tavern, which has eight Kansas City metro locations, The Topeka Capital-Journal reports. Spin announced in December that it planned to revamp its menu and menu design companywide, thanks to the success of a pilot test that started in July at its 4950 Main St. location in Kansas City. The menu tweaks are designed to keep the brand fresh and drive repeat customers, Spin partner Ed Brownell previously told the Kansas City Business Journal. Some of the changes included reducing the topping prices, adding a zesty red sauce and offering higher quality wines and sangrias served by the glass, half carafe or full carafe. Tenants slated to open in 2020 at Wheatfield Village include a nine-screen movie theater by Gladstone-based B&B Theatres and an 88-room TowneSuites by Marriott hotel, WIBW reports. The second phase includes a 178-unit luxury apartment complex that will feature smaller studio and one-bedroom units. Construction is slated to wrap up in 2020, according to EPC's website.
