Weatherization Facility Designed by DMR Architects Opens
Bergen County Community Action Partnership’s hosts opening for Weatherization Training and Education Center
On October 4, DMR Architects, a leading full-service architectural, planning and urban design firm dedicated to high quality, progressive, innovative and sustainable design, joined the Bergen County Community Action Partnership’s (BCCAP) in celebrating the grand opening of BCCAP’s Weatherization Education and Training Center, designed by DMR Architects, in Garfield, N.J.
At the official ribbon cutting, BCCAP also celebrated the graduation of the eighth class of the Weatherization Training Program. The training program, which has graduated 80 graduates, utilizes the facility's latest technologies and labs, which includes a fully equipped home, to learn weatherization techniques. DMR’s design converted the former warehouse into space which accommodates training areas as well as office, reception and meeting space.
BCCAP's program is part of a nationwide stimulus which has weatherized one million homes in America, and 1,000 in Bergen County, N.J. alone.
BCCAP is an anti-poverty agency that provides services to low-income individuals to support independence and success. Previously, DMR provided professional services for the BCCAP Head Start Center, also in Garfield. The design converted an 11,000 square foot former warehouse and office space into a pre-school. The BCCAP campus in Garfield also includes a Federally Qualified Health Center.
“It is always a pleasure to work in our firm’s home county of Bergen, and DMR is proud to have again provided quality professional services to the Bergen County Community Action Partnership,” Lloyd A. Rosenberg, AIA, President and CEO said. “We are proud to support BCCAP, and in turn, the individuals they assist.”
