Walters Group Employees Help Local Community Fight Hunger
BARNEGAT, N.J., Aug. 22, 2013 – Employees of Walters Group, a leading real estate developer with offices in Barnegat and Marlton, collected $3,599 in individual donations and 615 pounds of non-perishable food items during their 9th annual food drive to benefit the Food Bank of Monmouth and Ocean Counties.
“The food drive is just one small way we can help people in our community,” said Candyce Fleming, purchasing manager for Walters Group, who acts as the employee coordinator for this charitable activity. “Our subcontractors, suppliers and other team members regularly support this effort.”
These contributions were collected at the Walters Group Barnegat office during a week-long food drive held in June. For the past nine years, Walters Group employees have donated their time to raise funds and collect food items to help fight hunger.
“We appreciate the support we received to make this year’s food drive a success,” said Edward Walters, Jr., the company’s president. “We take our responsibility to the community very seriously.”
Walters Group is committed to being active in the local community where it is based, and the company views this as an integral component to the success of its business. In addition to its support of the FoodBank, the firm has been an active supporter of many local organizations in need including the American Red Cross, hurricane relief, Habitat for Humanity, Relay for Life/American Cancer Society, Toys for Tots, Barnegat Volunteer Fire Company, and Barnegat and Stafford Girls Softball Leagues.
