Tucker Development Adds Tesla Motors Super Charging Station to Country Club Plaza in Country Club Hills, IL
Leading Developer of Retail and Mixed-Use Properties Adds Eight Charging Bays at Prime Retail Location
CHICAGO, IL. (September 10, 2014) — Tucker Development, a leading fund manager and developer of shopping centers and mixed-use properties, today announced it has signed a lease with Tesla Motors for eight Super Charging Stations at Country Club Plaza in Country Club Hills, IL. Reflecting the company’s ongoing strategy for ‘green’ development, Tucker is positioning the stations near one of the most crucial transit hubs in the Chicago/Indiana corridor.
Located at the intersection of Route 57, I-80 and I-294, Country Club Plaza represents a prime location for the eight Tesla charging stations. The addition compliments the 450,000 square foot retail center, a bustling destination for the high-traffic south suburbs of Chicago between Bloomington and South Bend, Ind.
“We’re excited to debut the new Tesla Motors Super Charging Station at Country Club Plaza, as demand for environmentally friendly development measures continues to swell,”stated Richard Tucker, president and CEO of Tucker Development. “As we continue to explore new opportunities for mixed-use development in the Chicago and New Jersey markets, sustainable initiatives are a central focus of our development strategy.”
Tesla’s Super Charging Stations enable Model S electric vehicle drivers to travel for about three hours on a single charge. Drivers can seamlessly connect their cars to the station while stopping for a meal, coffee, or shopping trip, and be back on the road in as little as 20 minutes. The service is provided free of charge.
Elsewhere, Tucker Development continues to target ‘green’ upgrades for their existing portfolio and upcoming projects. In Newark, N.J., Tucker is pursuing LEED certification at the 150-unit residential portion of Springfield Avenue Marketplace, one of New Jersey’s most highly anticipated urban, mixed-use developments. Tucker Development is also exploring adding more charging stations to other key properties.
In Fort Lee, N.J., Tucker is developing Hudson Lights, an energy-efficient, one-million-square-foot, mixed-use redevelopment located at the entrance to the George Washington Bridge. Construction is underway on Phase I, which will feature approximately 143,000 square feet of retail space and 276 luxury apartments. Hudson Lights’ lead tenant, iPic, is buildingan eight-screen, 533-seat luxury movie theater and its award-winning dining concept, Tanzy.
