Staten Island Couple Starts Chain Reaction of Moves to Manalapan 55+ Community
Manalapan, NJ, October 2014: Little did Lorraine and Frank Tommasini know, when they bought their new home at K. Hovnanian’s® Four Seasons at Manalapan, that they would be setting off a chain reaction of moves from Staten Island to Monmouth County, NJ. But that’s precisely what happened after the long-time Staten Island couple made the decision to move to the popular 55+ lifestyle community. It all began about three years ago, when the Tommasinis’ daughter moved to Manalapan.
“We lived on Staten Island for going on 38 years,” Lorraine shared. “We moved into our house in Oakwood on Halloween in 1977 and raised our three kids there. After our daughter moved down to Manalapan, I was driving back and forth a lot to visit and to help with the grandchildren. We have a three-year-old grandson who just started pre-school and a one-year-old granddaughter. I started to realize that all this driving would eventually get to be more difficult. Also, the upkeep of our two-family home on Staten Island was getting harder. I had to go down two flights of stairs to do laundry. It was getting tiring and we started to realize how nice it would be to have everything on one level.
“So about two years ago, my daughter said, ‘Why don’t you look at some 55+ communities down here?’ We didn’t want to leave Staten Island. We have very good friends there. But we thought, by the time our grandchildren started school, we’d like to be down there permanently. So we started driving around to get a sense of the area and we looked at several different communities. For some reason, we were always drawn back to K. Hovnanian’s® Four Seasons at Manalapan.”
A lot of homebuyers have felt the same way about K. Hovnanian’s® Four Seasons at Manalapan, including several from Staten Island. The active-adult community has a way of drawing people back, attracting buyers with its unique collection of home designs in a tremendous location not far from the Jersey Shore, along with a low-maintenance lifestyle and a variety of resort-like amenities.
At K. Hovnanian’s® Four Seasons at Manalapan, buyers have a choice of nicely designed single-family homes priced from the $400s (subject to change). All homes feature generous living areas with two or three bedrooms, two or three baths, two-car garages, and functional, flowing floorplans designed to create a simpler, more comfortable and more efficient living environment.
“We loved all the models,” Lorraine commented. “They had all the conveniences we were looking for. We originally picked out a Martinique, but once they built the Monterey Loft, we went with that. We liked the option of expanding and having a third bedroom and bath, so when our kids come to visit, there’s room for all. We love having everything on one level. And the open floorplan of the kitchen – that’s what I fell in love with! I cook and bake a lot, so I love the kitchen and having the double-oven. Plus, I love the fact that we now have an actual laundry room – no more going down to the basement to do laundry!”
In addition to loving the models, the Tommasinis had other key reasons for choosing K. Hovnanian's® Four Seasons at Manalapan. “Of course, being in this area and being so close to our daughter was a big factor,” Lorraine said. “But we also wanted someplace where we could be active – and to us, it seemed more active here than other communities we looked at. When we went to our orientation, we saw a lot of things going on.”
K. Hovnanian's® Four Seasons at Manalapan does have a reputation for being an active community. Attractively distinguished by lush, scenic landscaping, with gazebos and meandering walking trails for homeowners to enjoy, the community offers a variety of recreational amenities and social opportunities. The grand, luxurious Clubhouse is a two-story, 29,000-square-foot facility that features three pools: an indoor pool and spa, an outdoor pool, and a swimming area designed especially for grandchildren. Other amenities include tennis courts, a putting green, a cozy fireplace lounge, an outdoor poolside patio, a computer room, card and billiards rooms, games, arts and crafts and much more. Homeowners can also participate in a number of clubs and activities on the community’s thriving social calendar.
The Tommasinis haven’t moved in yet (they anticipate closing this fall), but they’re already counting on being active in their new neighborhood. “I do plan on exercising,” Lorraine said. “I’d also love to take up tennis. My husband loves cards, so I’m sure he’ll do that. We look forward to going on some of the various trips, and dances, those kinds of things. And we will use the pools, for sure!”
The surrounding area also has much to offer – including a country feel, with true suburban conveniences. Ranked by Money magazine as one of the “hottest towns on the East Coast,” Manalapan offers easy access to Jersey Shore beaches and New York City, as well as plenty of nearby shopping, golf, recreation, great dining and more.
All in all, the Tommasinis are very pleased with how things worked out as they went through the process of buying their new home at K. Hovnanian's® Four Seasons at Manalapan. “Working with the team here has been excellent,” Lorraine reflected. “Cathy Garma was absolutely marvelous. She explained everything in detail and was not pushy at all, but made us feel secure in all the choices we made. I only have good things to say about her and everyone we dealt with.”
Even though they haven’t moved into their new home yet, Lorraine and Frank have already proven to be genuine ambassadors for the community. “I’ve talked about this place and our experience here to a lot of people back in Staten Island,” Lorraine said, laughing, as she considered the others who have since migrated there. “We brought my brother, John Santoli, down to see the community. He really encouraged us to make the plunge and move here – then he liked it so much, that he bought a home here, right next door to where we’re going to be! I also talked to my former boss and very good friend about the community. She also has a daughter in Jersey, but never thought she would move here. She came to look at the models, fell in love with the community and our model, and now she’s buying a home here, too! We’re thrilled that she’ll be settling near us, that we’ll be neighbors, and that we can enjoy all that the community has to offer together.”
K. Hovnanian’s® Four Seasons at Manalapan is nearly sold out, and is now offering its final few homes. Interested buyers are encouraged to visit the community soon, while there are still a few excellent opportunities available. Take a tour of the beautifully decorated models, walk through the spectacular clubhouse – and see why more and more buyers are choosing to make the move to this extraordinary 55+-lifestyle community.
