Leading design company will take three floors at prime Midtown location for offices and showroom

July 11, 2012 – (New York)RXR Realty (“RXR”), a leading real estate operating and investment company in the New York Tri-State area, has entered into a lease agreement with Knoll, Inc., the leader in workplace and residential furnishings and coverings, to move into RXR’s premier office building at 1330 Avenue of the Americas.

Knoll will take approximately 50,000 square feet on the second, third and fourth floors at 1330 Avenue of the Americas for offices and a showroom.  The 534,000-square-foot class-A tower, which RXR purchased in December 2010, rises 40 stories above Avenue of the Americas between 53rd and 54th Streets.  Floors range in size from approximately 10,000 to 17,000 square feet and the top floors enjoy stunning views of Central Park.

Knoll is recognized as an innovator worldwide and their products are exhibited in major art museums, with more than 40 pieces in the permanent Design Collection of The Museum of Modern Art, located just around the corner from the RXR building.

“Knoll is a premier company whose creative aesthetic pushes the boundaries of design and technological innovation to produce furnishings that speak to today’s ever-changing tastes, trends and needs,” said William Elder, Executive Vice President and Managing Director of RXR’s New York City Division.  “They are the best at what they do and we are very pleased they selected 1330 Avenue of the Americas as their new home.  This highlights 1330’s ability to attract creative and innovative tenants that might otherwise locate in Midtown South, as Knoll will be coming from the ‘Google building’ at 111 8th Avenue.”

With Knoll’s lease, 1330 Avenue of the Americas will be nearly 90 percent occupied, Elder said.  He said Knoll is expected to move in during the first quarter of 2013.

“It is fitting that as we celebrate our 75th anniversary in 2013 we will do so back uptown where Hans and Florence Knoll created our first groundbreaking showrooms,” said Andrew Cogan, CEO Knoll, Inc. “1330 is a beautiful modern building which will give us a visible and convenient platform for our flagship showroom and corporate offices.”

Knoll was represented by Martin Horner and Scott Cahaly of Jones Lang LaSalle.
