Rumson Homeowners Discover Appealing Townhome Living at The Ivy at Shrewsbury
Shrewsbury, NJ, March 2014: Janice and David Henderson never thought of themselves as townhome kind of people. They were accustomed to single-family home living, having had two homes of their own over the years, including their most recent five-bedroom house in Rumson. However, once their four children were grown and had moved out of the house, the Hendersons were ready for a change.
“We liked the idea of something smaller and more manageable,” Janice shared. “We wanted to stay close to home so our kids could keep roots in the area, but we were ready to downsize to something with a little less maintenance.” David picked up the story from there. “We started looking for smaller single-family homes in our general area and thought we had actually found one in Shrewsbury. Then we began to realize that we really didn’t want a yard to maintain anymore. We were looking at homes, but hadn’t looked at any condos or townhomes. We thought we were house people!”

The Hendersons chose a St. Andrews home. “We really like the layout,” Janice shared. “Having the loft was a big factor, because we wanted the space for extra beds when the kids come home. We also like having the finished basement, and having the two-car garage is a very nice feature.”
The Shrewsbury area has long been regarded as one of the most desirable parts of Monmouth County and the Jersey shore. A big draw to the area is its proximity to downtown Red Bank, home to many fine dining establishments, as well as art galleries, shopping and entertainment venues. Only about five miles from the beach, The Ivy is also very close to the upscale Grove at Shrewsbury and The Galleria, two popular shopping complexes in the area. Homeowners enjoy easy access to the Garden State Parkway and the community is located within walking distance of a bus stop that leads to Port Authority, and also close to NJ Transit train stations, making it very convenient for city commuters. “It’s ideally situated,” David Henderson commented. “Living here, it’s so convenient, it’s amazing!”
The Hendersons moved into their new home at The Ivy in mid–November of 2012 – just in time to have all four of their children converge on the new place for Thanksgiving. “They were all home and they loved it,” Janice said. “We had room for everyone to stay here, even though we just moved in and were still unpacking! Our one daughter joked that she thinks she’ll wait to come back until everything is unpacked and we’re settled in a little more – but it was great having everybody home!”
