Reed Construction Converts Historic D.C. Townhome into CHCI Headquarters
CHICAGO, June 24, 2015 – Reed Construction is pleased to announce completion of a new headquarters for the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute (CHCI) at 1128 16th Street NW in Washington, D.C. The general contracting firm was selected by CHCI and Savills Studley to complete 12,000 square feet of renovations to the historic townhome, which sits just north of Lafayette Square and the White House North Lawn.
Built in 1909, various capital improvements were required for the structure, including upgrades to plumbing and electrical systems. Masonry repairs were made, as well as door restoration. New appliances were also installed.
“Our goal for this renovation was to provide a modern office space for the client while also preserving the historic nature of the building,” said Jeremy Nelson, senior project manager for Reed’s Washington, D.C. office. Nelson led the construction team for the project. Architectural services were provided by FOX Architects.
The Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute was founded in 1978 with the mission of educating, empowering and connecting with the next generation of Latino leaders. The organization directly impacts the lives of over 1,700 students and young professionals each year, and encourages them to actively change the economic and public policy landscape in the United States. CHCI will be relocating to the new office at the end of June from its prior location in the Capitol Riverfront neighborhood.
