Newlyweds Choose Montgomery Ridge for First Home Purchase

Montgomery Township, NJ, March 2016 – Izabela and Ron knew a few things as they began their search to buy their first home. The newlywed couple wanted a townhome, and they wanted to live somewhere that was close to everyday conveniences, including being near a train station. While that helped to narrow their search, they still spent a considerable amount of time trying to find the ideal place.

“We had been looking for maybe six months,” Ron explained, “and we looked in a lot of different counties. We looked at townhomes and also single-family homes, including new construction and resale.” They were aware of K. Hovnanian’s® Montgomery Ridge, a popular townhome community in Montgomery Township that’s located minutes from downtown Princeton. In fact, they first heard about the community back in 2014, when they saw a “coming soon” sign on the property, announcing plans for the new development. Izabela recalled their first impression.

“It was the very beginning stage of the community and there was nothing there yet except for a sign,” she reflected. “At that point, we were living in an apartment in South Brunswick and we were not ready to buy. But we really liked the area where Montgomery Ridge was going to be built and we wanted a townhome. So once we got more serious about buying, we came back to visit.”

Like many other buyers, Izabela and Ron were strongly impressed with what they found when they visited Montgomery Ridge. The community features spacious two-story townhomes that offer up to 2,203 square feet of living space. Homes include three bedrooms, two-and-a-half baths, one- or two-car garages, basements, and a variety of high-end features. Homeowners also enjoy the low-maintenance lifestyle that comes with K. At Montgomery Ridge, buyers have a choice of four unique floorplans: the Swarthmore, Albright II, and Bryn Mawr models. The builder also recently introduced an expanded Swarthmore floorplan, a larger version of the existing Swarthmore design. This new floorplan features 2,146 square feet of living space, with a choice of either an English basement or a walkout basement. Only seven of these new designs are available, and they are only being offered as desirable end units. With such a limited number available, it’s anticipated that these new floorplans will sell quickly.

Izabela and Ron chose a Swarthmore home, which they moved into this past October. Izabela describes the home as very warm and homey. “We really liked the open layout,” she shared, “and the big owner’s suite, with the large closet and bathroom. Having a two-car garage was an important factor and the upgrades were also great.” Ron agreed, adding, “It was quite spacious for our needs, with the three bedrooms and the loft. We also like having the basement for more storage, or for potential additional living space in the future.” The Swarthmore also features a designer kitchen with granite surface countertops, GE® appliances, and a pantry for additional storage; a convenient second-floor laundry room near the bedrooms; a mudroom off the garage; and designer lighting for additional luxury.

Location was very important for Izabela and Ron – and Montgomery Ridge is set in one of the best, most desirable areas of central Jersey. “It’s a very nice mix of being suburban but also being close to a lot of modern conveniences like restaurants, shopping areas and theaters,” Ron said. Set just off Route 206 in Montgomery Township, the community is ideal for commuters who travel to New York City or Philadelphia, with easy access to major routes like 202, and 1. It’s also close to the New Jersey Turnpike and New Jersey Transit and Amtrak service from nearby Princeton Junction. Montgomery Township affords easy access to popular shopping centers such as Bridgewater Commons and Quaker Bridge Mall. And downtown Princeton is just a short drive away, with its unique mix of specialty stores and charming restaurants, as well as a variety of cultural and entertainment options – a huge plus for Izabela and Ron.

“We love Princeton and go there very often,” Izabela commented, “so it’s great being this close to town. It’s really nice because it’s very quiet around the community, with a lot of farmland, open fields, greenery and parks. It’s so nice to go biking or walking. But at the same time, we don’t have to drive an hour to the nearest store – and it was important for us to be close to a train station, to commute into New York if possible.”

Outdoor recreational opportunities abound in the area, as well. The nearby Raritan River is ideal for kayaking or camping along its banks in Delaware and Raritan Canal State Park. Sourland Mountain is a great place to hike and to enjoy breathtaking views. The area also offers numerous private and public golf courses.

As first-time homebuyers, Izabela and Ron were a little nervous about the process – but their experience at Montgomery Ridge quickly put them at ease. “Before we finally decided, we did a lot of reading online about the builder and there were a lot of very positive comments and opinions about K. Hovnanian®,” Izabela said.

“Being from New Jersey, having grown up in Union and Monmouth Counties, I was familiar with K. Hovnanian® and confident in them as a builder,” Ron added. “We worked closely with Marianne Van Horn and Denise Dubuss, our sales associates, and they were great during the whole process. They made it very easy, especially as first-time buyers. They were never pushy. We really became friends with them!”

Izabela continued, “We were so excited about the purchase and we kept coming back at different phases to see every step of the construction, talking to the construction manager about all the details. We really enjoyed the whole process and everyone was so good to work with – and now that we’ve moved in, we’ve met the neighbors in our building and everyone is quite nice. So it’s been a very good experience.”
