NEW JERSEY APARTMENT ASSOCIATION MEMBERS CELEBRATE $50K RAISED FOR THE HURRICANE SANDY NEW JERSEY RELIEF FUND
108 Attend NJAA Charitable Funds’ Cocktails for a Cause
MONROE TOWNSHIP, NJ, April 30, 2013—On Thursday, April 18th, more than 100 New Jersey Apartment Association (NJAA) members and friends attended the NJAA Charitable Fund’sCocktails for a Cause, a fundraiser to benefit Hurricane Sandy New Jersey Relief Fund, chaired by New Jersey’s First Lady, Mary Pat Christie. The event took place at the Shannon Rose in Woodbridge, NJ where the group raised an additional $4,433 which complemented funds previously raised by NJAA members, The NJAA Charitable Fund , and the National Apartment Association for a total contribution of more than $50,000.
“We were all deeply affected by the devastation caused by Hurricane Sandy. The images of Sandy’s aftermath are etched in our minds, and we are very proud of New Jerseyans who have been working relentlessly to rebuild their lives,” said Brent Kohere, President of the NJAA. “As individuals and collectively as an organization, we are honored to be able to help our neighbors throughout the state as we recover together.”
Cocktails for a Cause is one of many events the NJAA Charitable Fund hosts throughout the year which provide NJAA members with an opportunity to help their communities. Additional events will include a charitable golf outing in July to raise money for the Fund’s scholarship program and in December, the Charitable Fund will host its annual Children’s Holiday Party for children of underserved communities.

The Fund, a 501(c)(3) independent non-profit organization, is chaired by First Lady Mary Pat Christie, and former U.S. Senator Bill Bradley serves as Honorary Vice-Chair. Funding is specifically geared towards New Jersey relief and recovery efforts.
