NAI SOUTHERN SELECTED BY THE CITY OF KANNAPOLIS, NC TO MANAGE DOWNTOWN PROPERTIES

NAI Southern Real Estate has just been chosen by the City of Kannapolis to provide property management services for the City’s recent acquisition of 46 acres and 81 buildings in their historic downtown core. These properties were formerly owned by Cannon Mills.  The properties consist of 737,000 SF of office and retail space and 11 residential units. NAI Southern will work hand in hand on this revitalization project with individuals from the Development Finance Initiative (DFI), a program under the direction of the University of North Carolina School of Government, who selected NAI Southern to work with them on this project. NAI Southern is developing a property management process tailored to the unique circumstances of this portfolio of properties, to include management of the facilities and tenant request for services, collection of rents and payment of bills, property maintenance and proactive monitoring, accounting and budgeting, management of current leases,, coordination of sub-contractors, supervision of capital improvements, and coordination between the City of Kannapolis and the Development Finance Initiative.  NAI Southern was chosen for this assignment because of our unique understanding of how government/private partnerships work to create value where none has existed for many years.  Steve Banner, head of NAI Southern’ s Property Management Group, and NAI Southern Broker, Michael Altieri will direct this operation on a day-to-day basis working closely with DFI and the Kannapolis City Manager.
