Morris County Couple Downsizes to Spacious, Low-Maintenance Manor Home at The Grande at Mount Olive
Mount Olive Township, NJ – November 10, 2015: Mary Anne and Bruce Cox knew it was time to have the talk. They had raised their two daughters, one had already moved out, and they were getting tired of handling all the outside maintenance on their large home in Mine Hill. “We started talking about downsizing and moving somewhere with less maintenance,” Mary Anne said. “With the kids gone, our house was way too big,” Bruce added. “We needed to downsize – but the question was where? My wife was working in the city, so we thought about moving closer to New York. But we didn’t really like city life, so we decided to look around Morris County where we had been living for over ten years. We looked at probably a dozen or so places – some 55+ communities, townhomes, condos, some single-family homes, and some apartments.”
Their search ultimately led them to The Grande at Mount Olive, a popular Morris County community from D.R. Horton’s Northeast Division. The Grande at Mount Olive has carved an impressive niche for itself, appealing to a variety of buyers by offering a selection of attractive, spacious new homes in a convenient location at a remarkably affordable price, from only $299,990.
“We were familiar with The Grande at Mount Olive because we had looked here several years ago when we first moved to New Jersey,” Mary Anne reflected. “So we decided to drive by and we saw a sign that said they had a new phase of manor homes. We were very interested because of the low-maintenance aspect. We were also attracted to the feel of the neighborhood. We grew up in New England, so we like that community feel, with sidewalks and a good amount of space. It’s difficult to find that in New Jersey. This feels like a traditional neighborhood, which we like a lot. But in the end, it was the manor homes that cinched the deal for us.”
The community’s newest phase of homes features a collection of brand-new floorplan styles that are ideal for those interested in downsizing, like Mary Anne and Bruce Cox. These uniquely designed homes are larger than a townhome and live like a traditional single-family home. Available in four different floorplan styles and set in an attractive courtyard setting, the homes have three bedrooms, two-and-a-half bathrooms, up to two-car garages, and full basements.
“This was the right fit for us,” Bruce said. “We were used to having a single-family home, so I was a little nervous moving to a townhome-kind of situation, where the homes are attached. So the manor home was a definite plus. It’s such a nice layout. You get that single-family feeling, even though it’s a townhome–type community.”
Mary Anne was quick to agree, adding, “One of our daughters is married with a child and they recently bought and renovated an older home just a few minutes away in Budd Lake. It’s about the same square footage as our new home, but when she saw ours, she was amazed at how much bigger our home felt, with the high ceilings and the open floorplan!”
Mary Anne and Bruce were very impressed with many of the details and finishes in their new home. “There are just so many nice touches about the home,” Mary Anne shared. “We liked the opportunity to have a finished basement. Our other daughter is in college and still lives with us, so she has her own space downstairs, which she loves. When she does move out, that will be entertainment space for us. The kitchen is nice, very modern and up to date. And we really liked all the little things. Our last home was also newly built, but the quality and the touches of D.R. Horton are very noticeable, even down to the simple things, like the closet doors, which have finger pulls on both sides. Those little details are important.”
In addition to the fine details and the quality of workmanship, homeowners at The Grande at Mount Olive can enjoy outstanding recreational amenities that include a private clubhouse with an outdoor pool, tennis and basketball courts. And the community is set in one of the Garden State’s finest locations. Conveniently located where Morris, Warren and Sussex counties meet, Mount Olive is surrounded by rolling hills and spectacular northwestern New Jersey views. “Our home is high up on a hill,” Mary Anne said, “so we have very nice, scenic views.”
Families with children still in school will appreciate the opportunity to be part of the Mount Olive Township School District. And all homeowners are able to enjoy the convenience of the community, which is close to major highways including Interstates 80 and 287, as well as Routes 206 and 46, making it ideal for commuters. The Mount Olive NJ Transit station is about twelve minutes from the community, and there is plenty of great shopping and dining close by, including the Rockaway Mall. The Grande at Mount Olive is also only a short distance from idyllic farms, state parks, wide-open spaces and many recreational activities.
Mary Anne and Bruce moved into The Grande at Mount Olive last spring – and they couldn’t be happier with their new home and their new community. “There is a nice mix of people living here, different ages and good diversity,” Bruce commented. “It’s truly a melting pot of people. We’ve had a chance to meet a lot of neighbors and everyone has been great.”
