Montclair Woman Loving New Resort Lifestyle at K. Hovnanian’s® Four Seasons at Great Notch

03/25/2014

Clifton/Woodland Park, NJ, March 2014: “Living here is like living in a resort.” That’s what long-time Montclair resident Susan Dale said about her new home and new lifestyle at K. Hovnanian’s(r) Four Seasons at Great Notch Spa and Club, one of North Jersey’s most impressive and successful active-adult communities. Dale moved into the popular Passaic County community last year, on Christmas Eve day, after having her eye on it for a number of years. And though she didn’t actually start to live in her new home until shortly after the New Year, she couldn’t have asked for a better holiday gift – and one that was long awaited.

“I started coming to look at the community in 2006, because I lived right down the street, about three miles away,” Dale recalled. “I looked at the models and immediately fell in love with them. I went into the office and met Kim Gibbs for the first time and she explained the whole plan and set-up for the community. This was early on, before the clubhouse was built and before I was ready to move. I kept coming back through the years to see how it was progressing and hoping that there would be something available when I was finally ready to make the move.”

Originally from Kentucky, Dale has owned four homes over the course of her past 36 years in Montclair. “From about 2006 on, I wanted to downsize. I was in a six-bedroom, three-and-a-half bathroom house in Upper Montclair and my last child had moved out in 2004. I really loved Montclair, and I wanted to be close to New York City, so I wanted to stay in the general area. Around 2008, I started to visit a number of other condo complexes around here. I looked all throughout the area but to be honest, nothing quite compared to K. Hovnanian’s(r) Four Seasons at Great Notch.”

A lot of active-adult homebuyers from New Jersey and the New York metro area have felt the exact same way as Susan Dale about K. Hovnanian’s(r) Four Seasons at Great Notch. The community  has a way of making a strong and lasting first impression that is simply hard to beat. Set in a picturesque mountain rock quarryand surrounded by majestic cliffs, with spectacular views of the New York City skyline, the community offers an appealing combination of beautifully designed homes in a tranquil setting, with resort-style amenities, and a highly convenient location only 12 miles from New York City.

“Ultimately, I chose to live here because of its location and proximity to the city, the great views, and the overall beauty of the community and the homes,” Dale shared. “It really is like living at a resort. A friend who lives here said that she and her husband have not taken a vacation since they moved in five years ago – and they don’t feel like they’ve missed anything, because it’s like they’re on vacation every day! My children have all been here and they think it’s spectacular. In fact, my son, who is in his thirties and lives in Glen Rock with his wife and baby, doesn’t understand why it must be age restricted, because they want to live here now!”

That resort-like feeling begins at home at K. Hovnanian’s(r) Four Seasons at Great Notch. The community offers a variety of luxurious home designs, with floor plans that appeal to almost every type of active-adult buyer, including attractive villa, garden and courtyard homes, priced from the upper-$300s (prices subject to change). Each home is thoughtfully planned, with floorplans that offer from 1,466 to 2,907 square feet of beautifully designed living space, including two or three bedrooms and up to three full baths.

Susan Dale chose a Zinnia model, a garden home design, which she speaks about with enthusiasm. “For starters, my lobby looks like a hotel,” she said, laughing. “My friends come to visit and they literally say, ‘This feels like a hotel!’ There are only six condos in my building, which is nice. My home is all on one level, with two bedrooms, two baths, an office, a living room, dining room, and a gorgeous, big, spacious kitchen. The floorplan is spectacular. And I literally face New York City, with nothing in front of me to obstruct my view of the city. Plus, I need to have sun in my windows and my condo goes around to the south, so I have the sun for most of the day. I remember shortly after I moved in, being in bed one morning and hearing that it was almost zero degrees outside and with all the snow we’ve had this winter, I was very glad to be in this condo, with someone else taking care of the snow!”

The resort-like atmosphere is enhanced ten-fold by the vast array of neighborhood amenities at K. Hovnanian’s(r) Four Seasons at Great Notch, most of which are centered around the magnificent 25,000 square-foot clubhouse. Here, homeowners enjoy a variety of recreational and social lifestyle opportunities that are simply unsurpassed in the area. The facility includes both indoor and outdoor pools, tennis and bocce courts, a putting green, billiards, card and craft rooms, and a state-of-the-art fitness center. A variety of clubs and other social activities are held in the facility, as well.

“There are so many things going on here, it really is like a resort,” Dale said. “Everything is planned and you can pick and choose what you want to do. There is actually a list of clubs right now that’s around 20 and counting. For me personally, K. Hovnanian’s® Four Seasons at Great Notch is making sure I do not travel down that path and trail of isolation in my older years. It allows you to have a social life without having to go out somewhere. I’m still working on unpacking and also still working part-time, so I haven’t availed myself of everything yet. But I will!”

No doubt one of the community’s finest amenities is its location and proximity to New York City and Montclair, which was important to Susan Dale, as it is to many others. K. Hovnanian’s(r) Four Seasons at Great Notch is privately tucked away and nicely removed from all the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Yet, at the same time, the community is within easy reach of major highways, such as Routes 3 and 46, Interstate 80, the Garden State Parkway and the New Jersey Turnpike. Nearby fine dining, lush parks and boutique shopping options also abound. There is even a bus stop right at the entrance of the community, providing direct access to Port Authority.

After waiting for years for her time to move into the community, Susan Dale is feeling right at home – a feeling that has been made easier by the warm welcome she received every step of the way. “The whole sales team here was very friendly, always happy and extremely knowledgeable,” Dale commented. “Kim especially was very helpful – totally lovely and very informative. She always got back to me with answers to any question I had and she was very detailed, showing me exactly what would happen at each stage in the process; everything I needed to know. And since moving in, I’ve met all the people in my building and everyone is very friendly. They make you feel so welcome; like they really want you to be here and you’re important to them. It’s been very nice.”
