Matrix Development Group Breaks Ground on 550-Car Parking Garage at Plaza Centre in New Brunswick, N.J.


Matrix Development Group, one of the Northeast’s most active and well-regarded real estate investment and development companies, has broken ground on a new 550-car parking deck at its mixed-use Plaza Centre complex in downtown New Brunswick, N.J. The parking garage, which will be directly connected to the complex, will further enhance the amenity base for Plaza Centre, with parking for tenants of the complex’s two office buildings, located at 303 and 317 George Street, as well as spaces for future development at the property.

The Plaza Centre complex consists of 210,000 square feet of office space known as Plaza I and II, the land being developed into the parking garage, and an additional two-plus acres of land for future development. In 2003, Matrix, along with its partners, developed the Highlands at Plaza Square, comprising 417 luxury apartments, 6,500 square feet of complementary retail and a 650-space parking garage.

Plaza I at 303 George Street is a six-story, 100,000-square-foot office building featuring open and flexible floor plan configurations that can be adapted to specific tenant requirements. Plaza II at 317 George Street was designed by the renowned architect, I.M. Pei, and is a five-story, 110,000-square-foot brick office building with a reflective glass exterior façade. Matrix has invested significant capital resources in both buildings for extensive lobby, common area and façade renovations. Currently, up to 20,000 square feet of contiguous space is available for lease.

Plaza Centre, which features immediate access to Routes 18, 27, and 1, and Exit 9 of the New Jersey Turnpike, is located within walking distance to the city’s multiple shopping, dining and cultural attractions. Corporate neighbors include Johnson & Johnson, Robert Wood Johnson University Medical Center and Rutgers University.
