Massey Knakal Multifamily Summit A Huge Success With More Than 850 Investors, Owners, Developers, Lenders & Property Mgrs


More than 850 multifamily investors, owners, developers, lenders and property managers came together at the McGraw Hill Conference Center this November to discuss the current state of the multifamily market at the Massey Knakal Multifamily Summit. With over 70 speakers, dozens of panels, workshops and networking opportunities, this event was the largest multifamily real estate summit to date.

Featured speakers included industry veterans such as Richard LeFrak, Chairman & CEO of LeFrak Organization, Michael Stern, Founder of JDS Development, Paul Massey, CEO of Massey Knakal, Steven Witkoff, CEO of Witkoff Group, Harry Macklowe, Chairman of Macklowe Properties, Bob Knakal, Chairman of Massey Knakal, Richard Mack, CEO & Head of Investment Committee of Mack Real Estate Group, Carl Goldberg, Co-President of Roseland, Mitchell Hersh, Chairman & CEO of Mack-Cali Realty Corporation, and Miki Naftali, Chairman & CEO of Naftali Group.

In the Multifamily Summit’s morning keynote conversation, Michael Stern, Founder of JDS Development,sat down withJames Nelson, Partner, Massey Knakal, to discuss how he made such a huge impact on the market and what projects he wants to develop next.“It was a great privilege to be able to sit down and interview Michael. The Multifamily Operations Academy opened with the morning keynote panel “Smooth Operators: The Art of Multifamily Operations”, moderated by Charles Schoenau, Managing Director, Insurent Agency Corporation.  The panel included Jeffrey Carleton, Partner & Head of Business Development, Nestio, Richard Doetsch, CEO, C&C Apartment Management, David Kuperberg, President, FirstService Residential, Andrew Hoffman, COO, Stonehenge Partners, and Jeffrey Perlman, President & Founder, Bright Power, and tackled top asset management concerns ranging from dealing with building violations, leasing and marketing, managing energy use and efficiency, and new amenities.

In addition to the keynote addresses, there were panels and workshops covering a wide range of topics including multifamily debt financing, tax incentives and affordable housing, condo development opportunities, tenant relations and energy and water management.
