March of Dimes Honors National Realty & Development Corp. at the 26th Annual Real Estate Award Breakfast
TARRYTOWN, NY (December 2, 2013) – On Thursday, November 14, 2013 at the Renaissance Westchester Hotel in White Plains, the March of Dimes NY Chapter and the Real Estate Award Breakfast Committee honored National Realty & Development Corp. (NRDC) with the prestigious Real Estate Breakfast Award. Joseph Simone, President, Simone Development Companies received the Martin S. Berger Award for Lifetime Achievement. Mr. Simone is the first-ever recipient of the award, named after the Westchester commercial real estate pioneer. 2013 marks the 26th annual Real Estate Award Breakfast as well as the 75th Anniversary of the March of Dimes. Each year the March of Dimes honors outstanding individuals and companies whose commercial real estate activities have significantly enhanced the community.
Over 400 members of the commercial real estate industry attended the breakfast held at the Renaissance Westchester Hotel in White Plains. Over $300,000 was raised for vital research and programs to help the March of Dimes mission of preventing birth defects, premature birth, and infant mortality. In an impromptu moment, Robert Baker, Chairman and CEO of NRDC, took the podium and pledged $25,000 for the mission.

In his acceptance speech, Joseph Simone remembered Martin S. Berger as a pillar in the commercial real estate industry and spoke of his philanthropic nature.
“It truly is an honor to be the first recipient of the Martin S. Berger Award for Lifetime Achievement. I’m not sure if I deserve this award, but if ever anyone deserved an award named after them it was Marty, who was a mentor and friend to me as well of a lot of other people in this audience,” he said.
