Livingston Woman Downsizes and Moves Up to North Caldwell 55+ Community
North Caldwell, NJ, March 2014:Marsha Golden was ready for a change. After 18 years in her large Livingston home, she was done with the big old house; done with the upkeep, done with all that space she no longer needed. She was ready for a new home and a new lifestyle – and she found both at K. Hovnanian’s® Four Seasons at North Caldwell, a thriving active-adult lifestyle community of luxurious condominium homes in Essex County.
“I remember visiting the sales trailer when the community first opened,” Marsha recalls. While she wasn’t quite ready to move at that point, something about the community caught her eye and stuck with her. “I knew I was going to end up here,” she laughs. “I needed to look at other communities, just to be sure. And I saw a lot! Every time I saw an ad for a 55+ community, I went to see it. But I knew I wanted to come here.”
So what was it about K. Hovnanian’s® Four Seasons at North Caldwell that captured Marsha’s interest all along? For starters, it was the location. She appreciated the fact that North Caldwell is only about five miles from Livingston. “I really wanted to stay in the Livingston area,” Marsha said. “I have one son in Roseland, and another in Wayne – plus my four grandchildren and a lot of friends in the area.”
But more than that, Golden fell in love with the community and the homes. “I love the whole concept and the homes are just beautiful,” she commented. “I didn’t feel like I was walking into an apartment building with small hallways. Everything is decorated so beautifully and it really feels like home.”
The luxury condominium homes at K. Hovnanian’s® Four Seasons at North Caldwell feature single-level living with floor plans that truly are spacious, with two bedrooms, two full baths, an open living-dining room, eat-in kitchen, family room with a fireplace, and much more. Priced from the mid-$500s (prices are subject to change), all the homes have flowing layouts with open and airy, nine-foot-high ceilings. The open floor plans are designed to create an atmosphere that is both comfortable and energy-efficient.
Marsha Golden chose the Marigold II home design, with 1,996 square feet of living space. “The size is great for me,” she said. “I’m just by myself now and my old house was so big! I wanted something a lot smaller. The kitchen is beautiful and everything is new. I love that! It’s bright with nice, high ceilings. It’s really pretty and my family likes it, too. They’re glad I’m so close and my daughters-in-law just raved about the home when they saw it. They think it’s fabulous.” When asked what her grandchildren thought about grandmom’s new home, Marsha laughed and said, “The little one, my seven-year-old grandson, loved the bathtub! He can’t wait to sleep over and use it!”
Homeowners at K. Hovnanian’s® Four Seasons at North Caldwell can also take advantage of many social and recreational opportunities in the community clubhouse, a private facility that includes a heated outdoor pool, bocce courts, a putting green, tennis court, and a state-of-the-art fitness center. Marsha enjoys using the clubhouse and meeting new neighbors. “I lived at the end of a street for so many years. I was kind of isolated there and really didn’t know any of my neighbors. So I’m definitely looking forward to having a little more social life,” she said. “I’ve met a lot of neighbors already. It’s so easy to meet people here. They have so many social events. I went to a pool party yesterday and even went to a couple of lunches before I moved in.”
The town of North Caldwell is another amenity unto itself. Named as one of the “Best Places To Live” in 2010 by New Jersey Monthly magazine and located in a beautiful part of northwestern Essex County, North Caldwell combines small-town charm with every urban convenience. New York City is only 30 miles away, with North Caldwell being served by New Jersey Transit on the Montclair-Boonton line. The neighborhood is just minutes from the New Jersey Turnpike, Garden State Parkway, Interstate Highways 78, 80 and 287, as well as Routes 3, 24 and 46. Newark Liberty International Airport is also only a short drive away.
Marsha Golden closed on her new home and moved in the summer of 2012 – and she couldn’t be happier. “You can tell I was ready to get out of my old house,” she laughs. “I would definitely tell others to consider buying here. They will love it! In fact, I play mahjongg with four other women and we alternate between homes. They’re all in big houses. I can’t wait to bring them here and show them my beautiful new home!”
