Lee & Associates-LA North/Ventura Appoints Three to Managing Director Roles

 

Expanded leadership model gives each office hands-on guidance and stewardship

 

CALABASAS, CA – Nov. 6, 2014 – Lee & Associates-LA North/Ventura, a full-service commercial real estate brokerage and member of the Lee & Associates group of companies, has named Mike Tingus chairman of the board and appointed Principals John Battle SIOR, Jim Fisher and Grant Fulkerson as managing directors responsible for the company’s offices in Sherman Oaks, Calabasas, Ventura County and Antelope Valley, CA.

The three new managing directors will share responsibility for the company’s direction and strategies as members of Lee’s Board of Directors while directly managing the individual offices where each is based.

“We see this expanded leadership model as providing boots-on-the-ground direction and stewardship to each of our offices while it allows us to maximize opportunities, recruit top talent, secure new clients and provide even better service to existing clients and grow revenue and profits further still,” the team said in a joint statement.

The moves, which are effective Feb. 1, 2015, come as Lee LA North/Ventura celebrates its 20th anniversary.

“It has been a decade since I joined Lee as president, and two decades since the first office was founded,” said Tingus.  “As we were coming up on those milestones, we naturally began thinking about the changes in the business and the market and what we can do to expand upon our leadership position, continue to grow the Lee brand and further increase our market share in the years to come. This leadership model will allow us to do that while staying true to our origins as an independent brokerage company owned and operated by its broker-shareholders,” he added.

Lee LA North/Ventura, the third largest brokerage in the region, was founded in 1994 with one office and 11 agents. Since then, it has grown to four offices with more than 40 agents and transaction volume in excess of $630 million in 2013. The Lee group of companies, with offices across the country, has retained its position as a leading,
privately-held, broker-owned company amidst a flurry of consolidations and
mergers that have taken place in the industry.

Lee & Associates CEO Jeffrey Rinkov noted that the moves underway at LA  North/Ventura are part and parcel of the growth that is continuing throughout the Lee organization, which just added its 51st office in Denver, CO.

“We are extremely fortunate to have someone like Mike Tingus and the important work and market leadership he has provided our firm and the Lee & Associates-LA North/Ventura offices,” Rinkov said. “This is an exciting time in the commercial brokerage industry, and I believe that Lee & Associates and its Los Angeles North and Ventura offices will be well served by John, Jim and Grant. Battle, a veteran investment real estate specialist, is a founding shareholder of Lee’s Sherman Oaks office in 1994. He has represented and advised many of the largest real estate developers in the area, and executed more than $1.5 billion in transactions over his career. He is based in Lee’s Ventura County office, and will also be responsible for Lee’s Antelope Valley office. Fisher, based in Sherman Oaks, CA, is one of the foremost multifamily brokers in the Los Angeles area. He has transacted more than $3 billion in sales during his career and helped orchestrate the growth of the Multifamily Investment Group to include 12 seasoned professionals.  Fulkerson, based in  Calabasas, is an industrial specialist who has transacted more than 4 million square feet of sales and leases since beginning his career with Lee in 2004. He has served on
Lee’s Board of Directors since 2012.
Battle, Fisher and Fulkerson have all ranked among Lee LA North/Ventura’s top 10 producers in multiple years, as has Tingus, who, as president, had elected to exclude himself from the annual broker rankings.

Tingus, a 26-year seasoned commercial real estate specialist, who has transacted more than $1.5 billion in sales, leases and joint ventures, has been active in a number of Lee’s national activities as a member of its Board of Directors and of the company’s Expansion Committee. He facilitated the opening of Lee’s Idaho office and the Los Angeles-based Investment Services Group and assisted in the opening of the Michigan office.
Tingus also served on the public relations committee where he participated in the development of the company’s first-ever national public relations and marketing campaign.

“Opening offices and spearheading marketing initiatives has helped me to better understand the many demands on my clients’ time, and I think it’s made me a better broker,” Tingus said. “While I am extremely proud of the contributions I made to the Lee organization, I believe we are entering a critical period in the current real estate cycle with new opportunities unlike any we have seen, and this new structure will give me an ideal position at the table. I am very excited to get back into the trenches
with my colleagues and to full-time deal making.”
