Impromptu Visit Leads Essex Fells Couple to Ideal New Home at North Caldwell 55+ Community

04/27/2015

North Caldwell, NJ, April 2015: Marie and Frank Giantomasi were ready to downsize to a smaller home and a new living arrangement. They were living in a 7,000 square-foot home on nearly two acres of property in Essex Fells. Their children were out of college and on their own – and, as Frank shared, “The time was right to make a change. We also had a house in Spring Lake, so we felt it was time to shrink one of them! We decided to expand the house at the shore and sell our home in Essex Fells.”

The Giantomasis had no interest in leaving Essex County. They love the area and wanted to stay close to their family, including a daughter and two grandchildren in the area. So they began looking at active-adult communities in the area, but weren’t finding quite what they needed, as Marie explained. “We looked at a townhouse, but we really didn’t want to be going up and down stairs all the time. Another place we looked at, the taxes were too high.” Then, by happenstance or serendipity, they discovered K. Hovnanian’s®Four Seasons at North Caldwell, one of North Jersey’s best-selling active-adult lifestyle communities. “It was the perfect blend of need fulfillment and reasonableness,” Frank said. “We were looking for an alternate living arrangement and this is about as perfect as we could have asked for.”

K. Hovnanian’s® Four Seasons at North Caldwell has proven to be the ideal “move-down” community for a lot of 55+ buyers throughout North Jersey. The community offers a winning combination of beautiful condominium homes, a variety of social and recreational amenities, a low-maintenance lifestyle, and an ideal location only 30 miles from New York City. The community is now approaching closeout and is offering its final opportunities, with only three homes remaining.

The Giantomasis found their new home by accident in October 2013. Frank was looking at a rental community nearby and as he was leaving, he noticed the entrance to K. Hovnanian’s® Four Seasons at North Caldwell. He abruptly turned in, went into the sales office and took a quick tour of one of the models. “I thought it was fabulous and immediately called my wife,” Frank shared. “As it turns out, she was in the area, getting gas literally around the corner! So she drove right over and we took a full-blown tour together.” Marie was just as impressed as Frank. The couple closed on their home in April 2014 and moved into the home in May.

For the Giantomasis, the immediate appeal was the homes, as it is for many buyers at K. Hovnanian’s® Four Seasons at North Caldwell. The community offers three spacious condominium designs, all featuring single-level living and ranging in size from 1,957 to 2,428 square feet. Priced from the low-$500s (prices are subject to change), the elegant homes have flowing layouts with open and airy, nine-foot-high ceilings, two bedrooms, two full baths, an open living-dining room, eat-in kitchen, family room with a fireplace, and much more.

“We really liked the size of the units and the generosity of the rooms, including the ceiling heights,” Frank commented. “Then the finishes and amenities rounded out our life needs. I was especially happy with the ample storage in the garage area, which I call my basement, and also the laundry room, which is a very generous room. There were just a lot of little things in the design of the home that really gave us great happiness. And we liked that they are pet-friendly, which was a pre-requisite for us.”

Marie was quick to agree. “I immediately thought the home was great and loved how it was all on the same floor and how it was so large with plenty of storage. One of the reasons why it took us so long to downsize was our concern about having enough space to host family holidays, where we sometimes have 25 people over. This felt large enough – and sure enough, we had 22 people here for Thanksgiving and we also hosted Christmas Eve here and it was very comfortable!”

The Giantomasis chose a Primrose model, the largest floorplan, which features a palatial owner’s suite and luxurious owner’s bath, a spacious designer kitchen with island, formal living and dining areas that are ideal for entertaining, a den, and a cozy breakfast nook overlooking a balcony. “We have a great view from the balcony, especially at sunset,” Frank said.

Another feature Marie and Frank appreciated was the opportunity they had to personalize their home. “We could have bought a quick-move-in home, but we bought one under construction so we could personalize,” Frank said. “And the Design Center was fabulous. We worked with Jill, who was such a pleasure – so easy to access and so cooperative. We really loaded up on the upgrades!” Marie agreed, adding, “The choices they offer were very modern, current and stylish.”

K. Hovnanian’s® Home Design Gallery, located in Edison, N.J., is a 17,000-square-foot, one-stop center where buyers can choose options for kitchens, bathrooms, flooring, appliances, cabinetry, lighting and much more – all to personalize their home to reflect their own style and lifestyle.

K. Hovnanian’s® Four Seasons at North Caldwell has also earned a reputation as an extremely social and active community. The centerpiece of the community is the clubhouse, a private facility that includes a heated outdoor pool, bocce courts, putting green, tennis court, state-of-the-art fitness center, game room and a lounge with party kitchen. It’s here that homeowners gather to enjoy many social and recreational opportunities, including a monthly calendar of activities and events that changes regularly. “We like to use the gym and we’ll use the tennis courts,” Marie said. “But what we really like is the walking path, which is just lovely. In fact, we use it almost every day. It’s such a nice ambience, with the natural setting on the hilltop, and attractive water treatments.”

The Giantomasis have been very pleased with everything about their move to K. Hovnanian’s® Four Seasons at North Caldwell – including the process of purchasing their new home. “They made everything easy,” Frank commented. “I’m an attorney and my discipline is real estate, so I appreciated how smooth and well-orchestrated the process was.” Marie summed it all up by saying, simply, “It’s such a nice place to be.”
