Honest Buildings Real Estate Innovations Summit
Industry leaders assemble to discuss the intersection between real estate and technology
New York (May XX, 2014)– Honest Buildings recently hosted a hugely successful Real Estate Innovations Summit, which was held at the New York Academy of Sciences on May 15 and organized by GreenPearl Events.
Bringing together more than 300 professionals, the summit, keynoted by Bill Rudin, vice chairman and CEO of Rudin Management Company and Jared Kushner, president and CEO of Kushner Companies, was geared specifically towards property owners, investors and developers and offered a range of new, innovative and ultimately profitable solutions that have been road tested previously by their peers.
One of the highlights of the summit was the Innovative Transactions: Let’s Make a Deal 2.0 panel discussion moderated by Kevin Seibers, vice president at Honest Buildings. The panel was made up of some of the brightest minds in the industry, including: Matthew Barron, president at Simon Barron Development, Vishal Arora, principal at Megalith Capital Management, Margaret Streicker Porres, president at Newcastle Realty Services and Martin Nussbaum, principal at Slate Property Group.
Matthew Baron served to set the tone for the entire discussion with his opening remarks about how “typically, in New York real estate, you have to move ridiculously quickly because of the amount of competition out there.” In keeping with the general sense of healthy paranoia required to become and remain a successful real estate broker in New York, Porres chimed in by saying, “don’t trust a third party to deliver an assessment on time because you could end up waiting yourself out of the deal. You have to rely on your own personal expertise to accurately gauge the assessment from a consultant.” When the panelists started to speak more in specifics, Nussbaum put in his piece on the state of the booming Brooklyn real estate market, saying that Williamsburg, Park Slope and Brooklyn Heights are the areas to be right now while Lefferts Gardens, Prospect Heights and Flatbush are areas that worry him in particular.
Paired with an enriched learning experience, the substantial networking opportunities offered through the four separate networking sessions at the event were second to none.
