Hollister Construction Services Builds Phase 2 of Newark Farmer’s Market
PARSIPPANY, N.J. — Hollister Construction Services, a leading full-service construction manager specializing in corporate, educational, healthcare, industrial, retail and residential construction, has begun construction on phase two of Newark Farmer’s Market on Cornelia Street In Newark. The company is building a 126,000-square-foot refrigerated warehouse for Newark Farmers Market Urban Renewal LLC, which will operate the facility for Wakefern Food Corp.
As the food industry has continued to expand in recent years, Hollister has established itself as a leader in the construction of facilities for manufacturing, processing, testing, packaging, storage and retail delivery.
“The building will double the capacity of New Farmers Market Urban Renewal’s produce and meat distribution business, providing abundant space for its operations,” Kieran Flanagan, president of Hollister. “The food industry is experiencing dramatic evolution and rapid growth, and requires specialized facilities to meet production and distribution demands. Hollister’s design-build expertise has enabled the company to efficiently create solutions for highly specific needs at a time when the industry is adapting to a changing market.”
Dave Williams, project executive, and Jack Carroll, project manager, serve as Hollister’s project leads on the effort. The 126,000-square-foot refrigerated warehouse was designed SNS Architects & Engineers, PC. The facility, which will house Wakefern Food’s meat distribution operations, will maintain a temperature of 28 degrees. It also features 32 loading docks cooled to 35 degrees, along with a vertical storage dock leveler and dock commander system.
In 2011, Hollister completed phase one of Newark Farmer’s Market on Cornelia Street in Newark that featured a 180,000-square-foot temperature-controlled distribution facility that served ShopRite stores throughout the northeast. The structural steel framed building was equipped with state-of-the-art hydrogen power, a cell technology for forklift trucks and equipment and a complete solar panel system on roof for supplemental electric.
