The Hampshire Legacy Group Finalizes Hunterdon Learning Center Conversion Project

Morristown, N.J. (January 28, 2014) – The Hampshire Legacy Group, a division of The Hampshire Companies, has completed the renovation of a former industrial property to serve as the new home for the Hunterdon Learning Center, a private school for children with special learning needs.

The property, located at 97 Spencer Lane in Clinton, N.J., was built in 1974 with 35,850 square feet of rentable space zoned specifically for industrial use. The building was leased by Sprint in 1975 with the intent of using the space as an office and warehouse, as well as a call center. It was purchased by the Legacy Group in 2007 with the intent of repositioning it to create value. Combining patience and perseverance, construction began in the summer of 2013 after a deal was negotiated between the Legacy Group and the Hunterdon Learning Center. The renovation included a set of state-of-the-art modifications, custom designed to suit the school’s needs. The project encompassed a full transformation of the building’s interior, as well as restoring the landscaping and refurbishing the parking lots.

The Hampshire Legacy Group signed a 15-year lease with the school that will expire at the end of September 2028. The Hunterdon Learning Center currently occupies half of the building’s space and is looking to expand into the remaining vacancy in the building.
