A former big-box store in the region is ready for redevelopment.
The ex-Kmart site in Norton Shores, at 3530 Henry St., has been listed by NAI Wisinski of West Michigan for $4.2 million.
The 16.27-acre, two-building site is listed by NAI Wisinski brokers Tim Platt, Cameron Timmer and Russ Bono.
The Kmart site was first developed in the 1970s and is zoned for retail and planned unit development.
The property is owned by New York-based RD Management.
NAI Wisinski will work with the City of Norton Shores and the buyer to make the most of the site, Bono said.
“This is a rare opportunity to have approximately 16 acres of land for redevelopment in one of the most densely populated areas in the Muskegon area,” Platt said. “The Henry Street corridor has been an integral part of the Muskegon area retail picture since the 1960s.”
The corridor is ripe for redevelopment, Timmer said, with a new Walmart and a remodeled Meijer.
“We see the redevelopment of this parcel as part of the ongoing evolution of Henry Street,” Timmer said.
