Elyse Strauss Joins Massey Knakal Retail Leasing Services


Massey Knakal Retail Leasing Services is pleased to announce that Elyse Strauss has joined the division as a Director of Retail Leasing specializing in the Chelsea neighborhood of Manhattan.

“We are thrilled that Elyse has joined our team of excellent leasing professionals.  Owners and tenants alike will benefit not only from her retail capabilities, but also from her legal background.  I know that Elyse will create similar success in the Chelsea market as we’ve achieved throughout the other markets where we operate,” said Todd Korren, Executive Managing Director.

Elyse comes to Massey Knakal with over 20 years of legal experience. Most recently, Elyse worked in China as Executive Director / Legal Counsel at Earth Bender Student Travel. She co-created and managed the student summer travel and community service program, focused on teaching American and Chinese students to live in harmony with the environment through the cultural exchange of ideas, service work, and seminars.  Earlier, Elyse spent time as an intellectual property attorney, litigating cases for Ostrolenk, Faber, Gerb & Soffen. She further honed her litigating skills while working for Torino & Bernstein PC in Mineola, NY, Beck & Strauss PLLC in Uniondale, NY and Russ & Russ PC in Massapequa, NY.  Elyse was also the Aquatics Director at Camp Che-Na-Wah in Minerva, New York, managing and developing the waterfront aquatics program for the all-girls summer camp in the Adirondacks. 

Elyse earned her Juris Doctor from Brooklyn Law School and Bachelor of Arts degree in Human Resources Management, Labor Law, Collective Bargaining and Mediation from Cornell University’s School of Industrial and Labor Relations. Additionally, Elyse completed educational programs in Foundation Fundraising, Developing a Fundraising Plan and a Proposal Writing Seminar at the Foundation Center in New York, NY.

Outside her professional activities, Elyse has a number of diverse interests. In the charitable arena, she was a founding Board Member and President of The Hewlett-Woodmere Endowment Fund, raising over $150,000 dollars in support of school education. She is also an active member of the American Red Cross, Hewlett Swim Club, and American Liver Foundation and she is a Cornell Alumni Admissions Ambassador.
