DS&D Sells Laboratory Casework Business to Hamilton Scientific
Sale allows DS&D to enhance its market leadership position within the building interior solutions space
DS&D, a building interior solutions company, has divested its laboratory casework division to Hamilton Scientific, a leading manufacturer of laboratory furniture and fume hoods for the education, healthcare and industrial markets, effective August 1, 2014. As part of Hamilton Scientific, the new laboratory casework business will be called Laboratory Solutions of the Atlantic and will remain in central New Jersey. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
“The sale of our laboratory casework division will allow us to focus on our core competencies, enhance our market leadership and provide world class customer service for our clients in the contract office and commercial interiors industry,” said Steven Lang, President and CEO of DS&D. “By divesting the laboratory business to our long-standing manufacturing partner, we are able to provide our clients with a seamless transition of the business to another industry leader.”
DS&D Laboratory Solutions was the premier Hamilton Scientific laboratory workstation and fume hood supplier in New York, New Jersey, Delaware, eastern Pennsylvania, Washington D.C., and northern Virginia. DS&D laboratory employees will have the opportunity to join Hamilton Scientific, as they continue to oversee operations of the business during the transition.
Jack Roberts, President and CEO of Hamilton Scientific, commented “We are excited to maintain a strong dealer presence in the Atlantic region of the US. Ensuring continuity for our customers, for current and future projects, was the driving force behind the purchase. The Atlantic region represents a strategic growth area for us as we continually invest in our business as the recognized leader in the laboratory furniture and fume hood industry.”
