CoreNetNJ to Present Educational Workshop on Real Estate Challenges


LIVINGSTON, NJ - CoreNet Global NJ (Corporate Real Estate Network of New Jersey), the New Jersey State Chapter of CoreNet Global, has scheduled “The Real Estate Platform Challenge of the Pharmaceutical Industry,” a program in the continuing series of educational workshops for Corporate Real Estate professionals. The session will take place on Thursday, April 26, 2012 from 8:30 A.M. to 10:30 A. M. at Eastman Companies, Eisenhower Corporate Campus, 290 West Mt. Pleasant Avenue in Livingston, New Jersey.


The workshop will feature a panel discussion focusing on the recent PharmaFutures4 report prepared by Meteos, Ltd. that isolated three issues facing the pharmaceutical industry - The R&D Challenge; the Reimbursement Challenge; and the Real Estate Challenge. The presentation will address the issues of the Real Estate Challenge.


The panel will be moderated by Jim Reeb, President of Institute St. Onge and will address 3 key learning objectives:

• Given the future of Pharmaceutical and Medical Device Companies is clearly in the

emerging markets around the world – how should the surplus real estate be handled in their current communities so it creates a new shared value for the company and the host community?

• Given the largest percentage of future demand for new real estate infrastructure (in sq.ft.)  is

not in the affluent countries of north America and Western Europe, what should the CRE team and their service providers be doing to support their companies emerging market expansion plans?

• Given a transformation of the Pharmaceutical and Medical Device industry real estate

infrastructure needs, how should the CRE team and their service providers plan to incorporate the concept of creating shared value in the execution of the transformation and how does this tie into their companies Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) goals.


The panel will discuss in detail five elements to real estate strategy for the pharmaceutical industry: Value – the strategy of visualizing what can be; Destinations – Creating destinations that captivate people; Imagination – Imagining, not predicting, the future; Community – defining an organization’s public purpose; and Trust – trusting tenants and employees, the glue in real estate partnerships.
