CBRE/New England’s David Fitzgerald Honored with Prestigious CBA Broker of the Year Leadership Award

CBRE/NE wins three CBA Awards at last week’s event


BOSTON (March 12, 2014) — CBRE/New England’s David Fitzgerald achieved top honors at the 2013 Commercial Brokers Association Achievement Awards event held last Thursday, taking home the coveted Broker of the Year Leadership award.


David Fitzgerald serves as an Executive Vice President/Partner in the Boston office of CBRE/New England. A 25-year commercial real estate veteran, David began his career working in the downtown market with Leggat McCall/Grubb & Ellis. He left Boston for three years to be Managing Director of Grubb & Ellis’ European Operation in London and Stockholm before returning to join CBRE/NE in 1996. David leads CBRE/NE’s Downtown Brokerage team and specializes in brokerage and advisory services on behalf of a number of high-profile clients including Bank of America, K&L Gates, Goulston & Storrs, Goodwin Procter, Skadden Arps, Brown Rudnick, Sullivan & Worcester, the Boston Red Sox, Ropes & Gray, Eckert Seamans, Hemenway & Barnes and Millennium Partners. David also heads up the Boston CBRE Law Firm Practice Group.


David is very active in the community including serving on the Board of Directors for the Commercial Brokers Association as well as the Greater Boston Real Estate Board. He is also President of the Franconia Ski Club at Cannon Mountain, on the Board of Directors of Youth Enrichment Services, and on the St. John’s High School (Shrewsbury) Advancement Committee. He is also active in the American Ireland Fund and several Swedish/American organizations. He has been consistently recognized as one of CBRE’s Leading Professionals nationally throughout his time with the firm.


David completed a myriad of transactions locally, nationally and internationally in 2013, including the largest office transaction of the year in downtown Boston, Goodwin Procter’s 370,000 square foot lease at the 100 Northern Avenue build-to-suit in Fan Pier. David also worked on behalf of ownership to secure Arnold Worldwide/Havas as the 115,000 square foot anchor tenant for the Burnham Building rehabilitation. Other notable transactions for the year include Goulston & Storrs’ 145,000 square foot renewal at Rowes Wharf/400 Atlantic Avenue; Skadden Arps’ 47,700 square foot new lease at 500 Boylston Street; and William Gallagher Associates’ 47,000 square foot renewal at 470 Atlantic Avenue.

CBRE/NE was proud to be part of two of the winning Deal of the Year Awards. ARIAD Pharmaceuticals’ 386,000 square foot build-to-suit lease with Alexandria Real Estate Equities at 75-125 Binney Street at Alexandria Center at Kendall Square won Life Sciences Deal of the Year. ARE was represented by CBRE/NE’s Greg Lucas, Curtis Cole and Adam Brinch. Goodwin Procter’s 380,000 square foot build-to-suit at Fan Pier was awarded Office Deal of the Year. CBRE/NE’s David Fitzgerald and Tim Howe represented Goodwin, in conjunction with McCall & Almy.


CBRE/NE also had several nominations at the CBA Achievement awards. Rachel Marks, Senior Associate on CBRE/NE’s Industrial brokerage team, and Sam Crossan, Associate on CBRE/NE’s Metro West brokerage team, were both nominated for the Rising Star of the Year award.


CBRE/NE was honored to be part of deals nominated in each of the Deal of the Year categories. Greentown Labs, represented by Jon Freni and David Corkery, was nominated for Most Creative Deal of the Year for their 34,000 square foot relocation to 28 Dane Street in Somerville. Nypro, represented by Bob Gibson, Steve Clancy, Ed Jarosz and Rachel Marks, was nominated for Industrial Deal of the Year for its long-term 205,000 square foot lease at 112 Barnum Road in Devens. In the Investment Sale of the Year category, The Block on Congress 343,000 square foot sale from Fidelity Investments to Related Beal was nominated, represented by the CBRE/NE team led by Chris Angelone and Carlos Febres.


CBRE/NE had two nominations in the Suburban Office Deal of the Year category: Quest Diagnostics’ 205,000 square foot lease at Forest Street Office Park in Marlborough was represented on the tenant side by Bob McGuire, Rob Kinlin and our CBRE New Jersey partner Jeff Babikian. Rob Walles and Alison Powers represented the landlord, Atlantic Management Corporation. Also nominated was Verizon’s 311,000 square foot consolidation at Cross Point in Lowell, represented by David Wright and Amy Perlman.


Nominated in the Life Sciences category was Millennium Takeda’s 233,000 square foot build-to-suit lease at University Park at MIT, represented by Greg Lucas.


CBRE/NE was thrilled to be involved in four of the five nominations for Boston Office Deal of the Year, including the winning deal. CBRE/NE took part in the Arnold Worldwide/ Havas’ 115,000 square foot lease at the Burnham Building; Tim Lyne, David Fitzgerald and Kristen Blumetti represented the landlord, Millennium Partners. Pricewaterhouse-Coopers’ 333,000 square foot build-to-suit at Skanska’s 101 Seaport was nominated; Ogden White, Chris Cuddy and our CBRE NYC partner, Timothy Dempsey, represented PwC. Wayfair’s initial 105,000 square foot lease at Copley Place was also nominated; the landlord, Simon Property Group, was represented by Ogden White and Bill Crean.
