Press Release brought to you by CBRE

SADDLE BROOK, N.J. (Dec. 20, 2011) -- CBREis pleased to announce that Marta Person Villa has joined the state’s largest real estate brokerage firm’s New Jersey Retail Practice Group as a Vice President.  In this new role and as part of the Tri-State Area Retail Practice Team, Ms. Villa will leverage her extensive retail market knowledge along with her experience in mixed-use, transit-oriented and urban and downtown redevelopment projects  to advise local and national retailers as well as retail property owners.

“As the trend toward mixed-use development continues in New Jersey, we are extremely pleased to have Marta join our team as part of our sustained focus on delivering  deep local expertise  to our clients," said Jeff Hipschman, senior managing director, and head of New Jersey operations at CBRE. "In particular, Marta's vast expertise in downtown redevelopment and urban revitalization, as well as her extensive experience managing numerous leasing and investment sales transactions on behalf of top-tier retailers, will further augment our ability to provide expertise to our clients across every commercial real estate sector.”

Ms. Villa founded Square Foot, LLC, a commercial real estate firm based in Newark in 1997 to address the gap between the public and private sectors in redeveloping New Jersey’s downtown and urban environments. The firm provided services to over 25 municipalities and not-for-profits in the area of revitalization, marketing and operations. She also completed numerous commercial leases and investment sales transactions in New Jersey for marquis clients such as H&R Block, Ann Taylor, Starbucks Coffee Company, and Restoration Hardware. Prior to launching Square Foot, Ms. Villa served as the Borough Administrator for Red Bank, N.J., where sheled the renowned transformation of downtown Red Bank into a bustling and well-occupied street retail and downtown destination.

“I have taken on numerous challenges in my career and am truly excited to work with CBRE to expand on opportunities within the retail sector,” said Ms. Villa. “I believe my experience combined with the CBRE platform will provide our clients with unmatched resources and will result in helping to revitalize communities throughout the state.”

Ms. Villa, an alumna of University of Richmond, lives in Somerset County, New Jersey with her husband and two daughters. She is a longtime member of the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) and served as the ICSC NJ Alliance Co-Chair in 2010.
