CBRE Hires Industry Veteran Ben Shapiro
EAST BRUNSWICK, N.J. (June 11, 2012) -- CBREis pleased to announce that 28-year commercial real estate veteran Ben Shapiro has joined the state’s largest real estate brokerage firm as a senior vice president. In this role, Mr. Shapiro will focus mainly on Middlesex, Somerset and Mercer counties.
Previously with Grubb & Ellis, Mr. Shapiro has worked with top-name companies such as Vonage, General Electric, Carter Wallace, Marriott Corporation, MedPointe Healthcare Inc., AkzoNobel Corporation, Johnson Controls, K. Hovnanian and Lehman Brothers. Additionally, he completed a 575,000-sq.-ft. lease with United Stationers Supply Company for a regional distribution facility, and has also recently completed a 417,000sq. ft. lease with MAP International, a leading manufacturer of computer cabinetry.

While at Grubb & Ellis, Mr. Shapiro was one of two professionals to lead a team of six people in the liquidation of leasehold assets of the Rickels Home Center chain. The portfolio consisted of 51 separate leaseholds throughout New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Delaware, comprising 2.7 million square feet of retail space and an 800,000-sq.-ft. corporate headquarters distribution facility. The team was successful in structuring a contract of sale for the majority of the portfolio with Staples within 75 days of being given the assignment.
Mr. Shapiro also completed one of the largest investment sale transactions in New Jersey history when he sold a 2.3 million square-foot industrial complex in Wood-Ridge, N.J. for the Curtiss-Wright Corporation.
