CBRE GROUP, INC. AND CORE GROUP, LLC HOST SECOND ANNUAL NEW JERSEY LOGISTXGAMES IN SOUTH BRUNSWICK, N.J.
$25,000 in Cash Raised in Advance of Competition, Benefitting
the Wounded Warrior Program
SOUTH BRUNSWICK, N.J. (August 27, 2015) – CBRE Group, Inc. and CORE Group, LLC are excited to announce the 2nd Annual New Jersey LogistXGames, a unique four-event competition geared at communicating the value of the logistics and distribution industry in New Jersey and recognizing the “best” practitioners in the region.
The games will be held on Sept. 25, 2015 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Matrix Development’s new state-of-the-art 550,000-square-foot distribution center at 965 Cranbury-South River Road in South Brunswick, N.J., commencing with an address by South Brunswick Mayor Frank Gambatese. Alexander B. Taylor, Partner of Matrix Development Group, will be co-emceeing the event.
To date, the partnership has raised approximately $25,000 in cash donations and $10,000 in trophies, equipment and supplies in advance of the competition. All proceeds from the 2015 New Jersey Games (after event costs) will be donated to the Wounded Warrior Program.
Employees from companies throughout the region will gather in the Central Jersey location – directly off of the New Jersey Turnpike Exit 8A – for the unique series of competitions in a fun and energetic setting. Confirmed participants of the 2015 Games include teams from Simon & Schuster, Tiffany & Co., Sleepy’ s, GMB North America, Lifetime Brands, Frazier Industrial Co. and Royal Food.
“The 2014 New Jersey LogistXGames were highly praised by workers in logistics and distribution who enjoyed having the opportunity to showcase their skills and the importance of their work,” said Allison Clancy, President, CORE Group, LLC. “In addition to effectively communicating the value of the industry, the Games provide an arena for companies to build employee pride, establish team work principles and reinforce the safety standards vital to the industry.”
Teams will participate in relay events that include the Pallet Puzzle Sprint, the Pallet Jack Relay, the Pick/Pack Hurdle and the Box Put. The Pallet Jack Relay, for example, is a timed-event game that challenges teams as they travel through an obstacle course while keeping their pallet of boxes in place.
For the second consecutive year, Tiffany & Co. has donated trophies to be awarded to participants of the Games – the ultimate award being the “Golden Pallet Award.” The LogistXGames team that receives the Golden Pallet Award is required to return it to the Games the following year. In the 2014 New Jersey competition, the team from Simon & Schuster – the “Box Busters” – received the Golden Pallet Award and will be returning this year in an attempt to defend its Title.
The first LogistXGames were held in 2007 in Louisville and were then expanded to Indianapolis and Cincinnati in 2013. After much success in all three locations, the organizers were eager to bring the event to the Garden State in 2014 – a region where logistics and distribution operations are so vital to day-to-day economic operations.
“Central New Jersey is widely recognized as a leading market for logistics operations and, as proven through last year’s successful New Jersey LogistXGames, these industry professionals have tremendous pride in their work and in their colleagues,” said Mindy Lissner, executive vice president, CBRE. “We fully anticipate the same levels of engagement and excitement at this year’s second annual event and look forward to continuing this New Jersey logistics tradition for years to come.”
For companies wishing to sponsor the 2nd Annual New Jersey LogistXGames, three levels of sponsorship are available with costs ranging from $800-$5,000. Teams of up to 10 members can sign up to participate in the event for a flat rate of $100. Additional spectators from participating organizations will pay $10 to attend the event and spectators from non-participating companies who choose to attend will pay $25.
