CBRE EXECUTIVE VP JOSEPH SARNO NAMED “CENTURY DONOR” BY BOY SCOUTS OF AMERICA’S MONMOUTH COUNCIL
EAST BRUNSWICK, N.J. (MARCH 2, 2012) – CBRE’s executive vice president and a member of the Executive Board of the Monmouth Council, Boy Scouts of America, Joseph Sarno, received the Century Donor Award plaque by Scout Executive Lee A. Marconi of the Monmouth Council, Boy Scouts of America. Lee A. Marconi paid a personal visit to CBRE’s offices in East Brunswick to thank Mr. Sarno for his help and achievement on behalf of the Council’s Executive Board.
“Joe exemplifies leadership at the highest level, while remaining highly active with the troops,” said Mr. Marconi. “This award reflects Joe’s dedication to the scouting program, the development of our county’s youth and to his community. He is an ardent supporter of the Scouting mission and the impact Scouting has on young people in helping develop their leadership skills,” Mr. Marconi said. “Such dedicated volunteers have helped us keep a balanced budget sheet for six straight years. Joe’s enthusiasm and commitment have been phenomenal.”
In addition to serving as a board executive for seven years, Mr. Sarno has held several executive posts — including vice chairman for the Joshua Huddy Award Dinner and also as a member of the Scout Golf Classic Committee. “I am extremely honored they chose me for the award,” said Mr. Sarno, a Monmouth County resident. “This is very close to my heart as my son is an Eagle Scout – now a senior at Monmouth University - and I’ve been fortunate enough to see how scouting programs have helped him develop many skills. Many of the most influential and successful people in America have participated in scouting programs. It is a positive experience for youths and teaches them vital lessons which help them through their lives.”
Jeffrey Hipschman, CBRE’s senior managing director of New Jersey and a Scoutmaster himself, reiterated CBRE’s commitment to Scouting, saying: “We are proud of Joe’s accomplishments and commitment to the Boy Scouts in Monmouth County and throughout New Jersey.”
Mr. Sarno, who is actively involved with Boy Scout troops of Monmouth County, has been a critical player in revitalizing the Council, helping it raise money since he moved to New Jersey in 2000, earning him high regard in the organization and among the young scouts.
“It is a pleasure and our duty to the young of the community,” he said, “The only way to keep the organization active is for everyone to do their own part. Whatever help I can offer gives me great satisfaction.”
