CBCF’s 9th Annual Golf Classic to Tee Off June 13th at Mountain Ridge Country Club

04/27/2016

CLIFTON, N.J. – Over the past eight years, the Cure Breast Cancer Foundation’s (CBCF) Golf Classic has been its most popular and successful event to raise funds to support breast cancer research efforts under the direction of Dr. Larry Norton, the Deputy Physician-in-Chief for Breast Cancer Programs and the Medical Director of the Evelyn H. Lauder Breast Center at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center.

Held annually at the Mountain Ridge Country Club in West Caldwell, N.J., site of the USGA 2012 Men’s Senior Amateur Championship, the 2014 MGA Mid-Amateur Championship and one of Golf Week’s “Top 100 Classic Courses in America,” the event has raised millions to assist the efforts of Dr. Norton, who is leading the fight against breast cancer with trailblazing work, and has discovered that cancer cell mobility and the interactions between the cancer cell and its microscopic environment are the key pathways to understanding and eventually eradicating breast cancer.

The Clifton, N.J.-based 501(c) (3) charity is now gearing up to host its 9th Annual Golf Classic on Monday, June 13th 2016.  The Mountain Ridge Country Club will once again host the daylong event which tees off with a shotgun start at 12:30 p.m.

Registration and brunch will begin at 10:30 a.m.  An $18,000 Winner Take All Chip Off and raffle drawing for a 2016 Ford Mustang convertible will also take place. The festivities will conclude with a dinner reception where Dr. Norton, the Foundation’s Scientific Advisor, will address guests.

“Every year we’ve been amazed as the number of participants and sponsors of the Golf Classic continue to grow,” says Andrew Abramson, Treasurer and Co-Founder of CBCF.  “It’s unquestionably the centerpiece of our fundraising campaign and has directly resulted in significant advances in breast cancer research.  We are honored and privileged to have so many individuals and from the business community contribute to this important cause.”

Those interested in participating in the 9th Annual Golf Classic can call (973) 471-CBCF (2223) or email register@curebreastcancerfoundation.org.

CBCF has raised in excess of $5.5 million to assist the dedicated team of physicians and scientists at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York and New Jersey and their national and international collaborators.  Fully 100% of the net fundraising proceeds received by the foundation are donated towards research projects coordinated by Dr. Norton.

CBCF hosts a number of fundraising events and informative seminars throughout the New York metropolitan area and is aggressively expanding its outreach throughout the United States and beyond.
