Brielle Couple Find Appealing Lifestyle & Big Savings at Little Egg Harbor Community

10/27/2015

Little Egg Harbor, NJ, October 2015: Carol and Robert Sofie were ready for a change. They liked their home in Brielle, but it was getting old and requiring more maintenance. The Sofies were also traveling a lot now and spending more time at their log cabin in the Adirondacks. They didn’t want to have to worry about their house while they were away. Like many couples their age, they began to think a new home in an active-adult community might be the way to go.

“We wanted something new,” Robert Sofie shared, “and we didn’t want to have to take care of the outside of our home anymore. So we started looking online for 55+ communities.” The Sofies looked at a few places as far south as Delaware, and close to ten different communities in New Jersey before ultimately choosing to buy at K. Hovnanian’s®Four Seasons at Harbor Bay. Robert explained why they chose to purchase at the popular 55+ community in Little Egg Harbor.

“We traveled to see a lot of different communities. We looked at some that had a lot more homes, but we liked the size of this community and how it’s more laid-back. We have friends who live in K. Hovnanian’s® Four Seasons at Metedeconk, so when we realized this was a K. Hovnanian® community we said, ‘That’s great!’ because we knew that the homes were well built. We also liked the idea of being a little further south in the state. We have a son who’s in Bricktown, so we’re closer to him. We liked the fact that it’s quieter down here, not as busy an area. We like being close to the beach. And the price was right. We saved a lot of money by selling and moving down here. This home would have cost a lot more further north.”

Location, community ambience, quality-built homes, Jersey Shore convenience, and extreme affordability – those are precisely some of the key reasons that many active-adult buyers are choosing K. Hovnanian’s® Four Seasons at Harbor Bay, including buyers from further north in New Jersey and New York. Located just fifteen minutes from Long Beach Island, the gated community offers beautifully designed, craftsman-style single-level homes that are nicely priced from the mid-$200s (subject to change). Buyers have a choice of six distinct home designs that feature up to 2,900 square feet of living space, with up to three bedrooms, three baths, and attached two-car garages – without all the maintenance that Carol and Robert were growing weary of.

The Sofies purchased a Bonaire model, a popular choice at K. Hovnanian’s® Four Seasons at Harbor Bay. They closed and moved into their new home this past June. “The floorplan is great and the size was right for us,” Robert commented. “We liked that it has a two-car garage and the storage is really good. They call this the ‘closet house’ because there are so many closets! We were also fortunate to get a really nice lot, with trees on the side and in the back, which gives us a little more privacy in the neighborhood.”

Quietly located amidst the natural beauty of Great Bay, Little Egg Harbor offers the ideal setting for K. Hovnanian’s® Four Seasons at Harbor Bay. Conveniently located near some of the Jersey Shore’s best beaches, the community is tucked away from all the hustle and bustle, yet remarkably close to the Garden State Parkway and other major highways. Homeowners have easy access to outstanding dining, entertainment and shopping choices. The Sea Oaks Golf Club, a championship 18-hole public golf course, is adjacent to the community. Boating, fishing, great marinas, historic lighthouses, sun-drenched beaches – all of these wonderful amenities are just minutes away.

Another appealing feature is the community’s magnificent two-story Clubhouse and Recreation Center, a 16,000 square-foot, seashore-inspired facility that offers a variety of recreational and social amenities. The clubhouse features indoor and outdoor pools, sun decks, a fitness center, spa, billiards and craft rooms, tennis, bocce, horseshoes and more.

“The gym is very nice – we like to use it and we’ve met people there,” Robert shared. “We also play tennis and we love having the indoor heated pool. My son has been here with his wife and our grandchild. They went down to the pool and loved it, too. Plus, there are lots of areas to ride a bike around here. All these things were factors and positive influences in our decision to buy here.”

It’s also a very friendly community, as the Sofies quickly discovered. “We came to about five luncheons here before we bought,” Robert recalled. “We met some people who already lived here, along with others like us who were thinking about moving here. And since we’ve moved in, we’ve met our neighbors. I have to say, everyone is so friendly. We talk to people as they’re out walking their dogs. Everyone is very nice.”

The Sofies were also impressed with the process of buying their new home at K. Hovnanian’s® Four Seasons at Harbor Bay. “This was the first new home we have ever had,” Robert said, “and there’s more to it than buying a used home. The whole process was very pleasant. Everybody has been great. They were terrific at the Design Center, helping us pick out our granite. And our sales associate, Joan Duckers, was one of the key factors in our decision to buy here. Her demeanor, her professionalism, everything she did always put us at ease. She answered all our questions and always called us back. Bill Kurtz was also a big help. We would not be here without them.”

The Sofies have only been in their new home and new community for a couple of months now, but they couldn’t be happier with their choice, as Robert summed up. “We’ve had friends come down to visit us and now they’re looking here, too. All I say to them is, ‘We feel great!’ We’re so glad we made the move. We love this place. We couldn’t ask for more!””
