AEI Consultants Boosts Staff and Locations Amid Rising Demand for Environmental and Engineering Services
WALNUT CREEK, Calif., March 24, 2015—AEI Consultants, an industry leader in environmental and engineering consulting services, recognized 25 percent growth in year-on-year revenues during 2014, driven by a 21 percent increase in discrete services. During 2014, AEI provided services for nearly 20,000 discrete transactions nationally.
The employee-owned firm, which now has 20 offices nationwide, saw exceptional demand for its energy consulting services, construction loan monitoring and consulting services, and zoning analysis reports. 2014 also saw the launch of two new practices: construction loan monitoring and compliance / environmental health & safety practices. AEI also experienced an increasing volume of assessment work in Mexico and other areas outside the United States.
Landmark projects and growth areas
Key projects for which AEI provided consulting services included a major erosion control and site stabilization project in the Southeast, and the decommissioning of the Salem power plant in the Northeast. The booming tech sector in the San Francisco Bay Area and Seattle drove high-value projects in redevelopment assessment, remediation, and site management planning.
AEI has completed HUD Green PNA projects for housing authorities along the east coast and in some mid-western states, including completion of HUD’s new GPNA Tool. Additional energy projects completed include several ASHRAE Level II energy audits for a REIT during redevelopment of its nationwide portfolio of upscale apartment communities, several renewable energy audits and reports for SBA 504 loans utilizing the energy debenture guidelines, and several Building Energy Use Disclosure Reports for properties located in states and municipalities requiring disclosure.
Over the course of 2014, AEI expanded its workforce by 50 people across the US and opened a new office in Kansas City. Key staff members added during the year include Joe Campisi as VP of compliance/EH&S and Larry Longo as national director of construction consulting services. At its corporate office, AEI appointed Steve Maki to EVP of business analytics, and Rummy Sandhu to VP of operations.
“We continue attract and retain the most talented people in the industry, which means we are well positioned to help our clients with any environmental or building science issues from first identification to resolution and agency closure, if needed, anywhere in the US,” said Holly Neber, president of AEI Consultants. “We are gearing up for an increased volume in the CMBS and agency lending sectors this year, as well as increased demand for infill development in core urban areas as cities across the US join in the recovery. We also continue to be sensitive to the competitive marketplace that our clients are facing. To that end, we are aggressively enhancing our internal technologies to support our staff so they can deliver the best intelligence and responsiveness in the industry.”
