Abbey National Treasury Services Renews Lease at 400 Atlantic Street in Stamford



Spanish Bank Occupies 18K SF for its U.S. Headquarters

STAMFORD, CT (Feb. 27, 2013) – The Landis Group, a leading real estate development and management firm, today announced that Abbey National Treasury Services, a subsidiary of the Stantader Group, has signed an 18,000-square-foot renewal for a long-term lease at 400 Atlantic Street, Stamford’s preeminent business address.

The space will continue to be used as Santander’s U.S. headquarters and the bank plans to move other area operations and consolidate them into its space at 400 Atlantic.

Banco Santander is a global, multinational bank that is one of the 13 leading banks in the world in terms of market capitalization. Santander currently serves more than 100 million customers through a global network of 14,400 branches, the largest in the international banking sector.

Santander’s renewal at the 15-story, 500,000-square-foot Class A office tower brings the building to nearly 90-percent leased. Late last year, cable giant Charter Communications signed 75,000-square-foot sublease of space previously occupied by UBS on the ninth and tenth floors.

Originally conceived and constructed as Champion Paper's world headquarters, 400 Atlantic Street is located across from the Stamford Train Station and highlighted by a dramatic lobby entrance and public spaces, expansive 37,000-square-foot highly flexible floor plates, elegant interior staircases and sweeping views of Long Island Sound.

The site was recently named The Office Building of the Year (TOBY) from the Southern Connecticut Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) in the 500,000-1,000,000-square-foot, multi-tenant category. Additionally, the property achieved theU.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) prestigious Energy Star recognition, the national symbol for superior energy efficiency and environmental protection. Commercial buildings that earn Energy Star recognition use 35 percent less energy and generate 35 percent fewer greenhouse gas emissions than similar buildings across the nation.

Located just 35 minutes from Manhattan, 400 Atlantic Street is across the street from the Stamford Metro-North Rail Station and adjacent to Interstate 95.
