5th annual Run for Our Troops 5K race at Cooper River Park Southern NJ homebuilders, area runners raise $7k to build new home
CHERRY HILL, N.J., Sept. 7, 2013 _ Some 225 runners and members of the homebuilding community in southern New Jersey helped raise $7,000 to build specially-designed homes for physically disabled veterans at the 5th-annual Run for Our Troops 5 Kilometer Run and Walk at Cooper River Park in Pennsauken today.
The 3.1-mile event, hosted by the Builders League of South Jersey, was a benefit for Homes for Our Troops, a Taunton, MA organization that has built more than 134 customized homes nationwide, including four in New Jersey. Another 38 homes are in various stages of planning and construction nationwide. These homes allow severely disabled veterans to return home and build a new life with their family. In the last five years, the Builders League has raised nearly $60,000 for the organization and helped build four homes in New Jersey, including one in Florence. Read more.
